Project Climate Shield

Project Climate Shield

Project Climate Shield is a comprehensive initiative to provide complete protection against the natural hazards exacerbated by climate change, ultimately enhancing human security and safeguarding natural entities and resources.

Here’s a breakdown of the strategies and objectives for addressing different types of climate-related hazards:

Drought:

  • Promote resilient agricultural patterns, practices, and skill-based village industries.
  • Facilitate micro-financing, income enhancement for farmers, and the development of entrepreneurship and cooperatives.
  • Establish agricultural predictions, risk assessment mechanisms and strengthen insurance systems.
  • Enhance micro-water resources, provide technology-based access to healthcare, and create foodgrain barter mechanisms.
  • Predict and address issues related to internally displaced persons (IDP) and develop local solutions for demographic retention.
  • Flood:

  • Map and predict micro-level flood impacts based on terrain models and local land use, and implement flood control or tolerance mechanisms where possible.
  • Retrofit flood adaptations to vulnerable housing, properties, and businesses.
  • Predict and address the loss of soil resources and biodiversity, preparing adaptation measures.
  • Provide realistic risk assessments and flood damage intelligence to rationalize insurance.
  • Predict and address issues related to internally displaced persons (IDP) and develop local solutions for demographic retention.
  • Storm:

  • Develop local-level storm intelligence for predicting loss of lives and property.
  • Create storm adaptations for buildings, housing, critically located shelters, and storm tide-over mechanisms.
  • Establish storm protection systems like mangroves and wetlands.
  • Develop realistic risk assessments and forecast intelligence to support the insurance industry.
  • Predict and provide local support for demographic retention and avoidance of IDP.
  • Fire:

  • Develop local intelligence about wildfire predictability, factors, and mitigation methods.
  • Collaborate with local authorities to build wildfire mitigation preparedness and response.
  • Review local-level wildfire disaster preparedness and develop shelters, escape routes, drills, and protection measures for lives and properties.
  • Reduce potential emissions and protect greenery to mitigate desertification.
  • Predict realistic risk assessments and fire damage intelligence to boost confidence in the insurance industry and support demographic retention to avoid IDP.
  • ARDEAF, as part of this initiative, will integrate data, information, expert opinions, administrative provisions, political strategies, demographic realities, and socio-economic measures to build climate resilience. It will also leverage the services of contractors, consultants, technologies, climate funds, communication channels, and industries to enhance climate resilience.
