Day 2: Walko & Cyclo
Often referred to as the “Father of Medicine,” the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates recognized the power of physical activity, and this quote is directed explicitly toward walking.
Well-known English novelist, historian, and social critic H. G. Wells, often credited with saying, “Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race,” signifies the importance of cycling and it is a crucial element in order to achieve a sustainable future.
And that’s what the theme of our 2nd Day of the ecological movement, “Walko & Cyclo,” is all about — walking and cycling.
From reducing our carbon footprint by lowering the dependence on non-renewable resources to several health benefits such as improved joint mobility and cardiovascular health, promoting weight reduction, walking and cycling is an environment-friendly alternative and keeps us healthy and active.
While it may seem like a daunting task, it is not. Since vehicles remain a significant source of pollution, giving them up for 11 Days is the best way to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate climate change challenges.
“Walko & Cyclo” is a step in the right direction — towards a more sustainable lifestyle, eventually creating a positive environmental impact. It is about changing the deeply ingrained habits of dependency on vehicles in day-to-day life.
Starting with 11 Days of carbon fasting can contribute to a lifestyle change and may become a daily habit.
Our duty as children is to do our bit to save mother earth and lose a planet we call ‘home.’
Join hands with us these 11 Days and make lifestyle changes to contribute to the betterment of nature.
